Meet Rebecca
Rebecca Miller is editor and publisher of The Shepherd.
She is a sheep farmer, journalist, and dog wrangler. She runs Blue Heron Farms, a 200-acre commercial sheep farm, in partnership with her mother and cousin, in Lisbon, Ohio. She also manages the farm's expanding pack of Turkish livestock guardian dogs, border collies, and one intrepid Jack Russell terrier named Bette.
Rebecca spent her career working in journalism: at daily newspapers in Wyoming, Montana, and New Hampshire; in higher education marketing and communications; and in media for Christian nonprofits in East Africa. She was editor-in-chief of Farm and Dairy newspaper, in Salem, Ohio. While at the helm, she garnered national awards for her column writing. Her newsroom also earned national and international recognition for its reporting.
Rebecca took over The Shepherd in 2024, from former publishers Pete Arambel and Cat Urbigkit.
